Já Kanye West e Adele reúnem sete nomeações cada um, logo seguidos por Bruno Mars, com quatro, entre as quais Vídeo do Ano, Melhor Vídeo Pop e Melhor Vídeo Masculino, por Grenade.
Lady Gaga, nomeada 13 vezes no ano passado, concorre este ano apenas em três categorias: Melhor Vídeo Feminino, por Born This Way; Melhor Coreografia e Melhor Direcção Artística, por Judas. Com três nomeações surgem também Eminem, Beyoncé e Nicki Minaj.
A categoria de Melhor Vídeo Rock será disputada por Black Keys, Foo Fighters, Foster The People, Mumford & Sons e Cage The Elephant.
A cerimónia de entrega dos MTV Video Music Awards decorre a 28 de Agosto, no Nokia Theatre, em Los Angeles.
